Taking Autumn Evenings While They Last.

I woke up sluggish this morning after a night of broken sleep—up at two, three, and four, checking the clock each time to see how much longer I could stay in bed. Still, I managed a reasonable amount of sleep overall.

I got up, washed, dressed, and left the house around 5:50. Made my coffee, grabbed the sandwich I’d left from yesterday, and caught the bus to work. I’d only just started work this morning, hoping for an issue-free day (always wishful thinking).

Chocolate Muffin

The morning at work was smooth—no major issues. During my break, I headed to Ballucci for an Americano and a chocolate muffin. I had a good 55-minute break, spent drinking coffee, eating the muffin, and doing some journaling. I still had another four hours to go, hoping they’d stay quiet.

After work, I went home and got changed. I sat in the garden for a bit, and Kathy and I had dinner out there too—taking advantage of the warm, dry autumn weather while it lasts. Kathy made beef short ribs with fried sweet potato slices and shredded leek and onion; it was very nice. We had a glass of Malbec to wash it down.

As it got dark, we headed indoors. I put the latest photographs up on the TV, and we looked through them together. Around 8 pm, Kathy suggested watching a couple of shows, but I was pretty tire, dso I wento upstairs to bed.

A slow start, a smooth workday, and a cosy autumn evening—just what I needed.
